Bog myrtle

Bog myrtle, also called sweet gale, is a deciduous shrub. It grows in boggy land and bears short upright catkins. Its gray-green leaves are aromatic. Its botanical name is Myrica gale, and it belongs to the Myricaceae family. It is known for its insecticidal properties.
