Bogey

Bogey a proper name applied to the Devil, an evil or mischievous spirit, and therefore, the term is applied for someone or something that causes alarm or fear. It is also a military slang denoting an unidentified aircraft.

Since Bogey denotes the Devil, the term is also used for an imaginary player, especially in golf, which also denotes a score of one stroke over par at a hole.

Bogey is also an informal term in fiance that refers to a benchmark in an index that is used to evaluate the performance of a fund to know the further scope of investment.
