Brahmavart
Brahmavart was an ancient territory in India lying between the ancient rivers Saraswati and Drishadvati. It finds mention in the Indian mythology, and was named so because a large number of Brahman sages and their hermitages were there. As per the traditional belief the Ashram of Valmiki, the author of Ramayana, was situated in Brahmavart now at Bithoor in Kanpur District. Several other important sages of ancient India had their ashramas in this tract of land.
