Bundelkhand
Bundelkhand is the region between the Chambal and the Yamuna rivers in India. This region of the central India lies in two states - Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. It derived its name from a clan named Bundela Rajputs, who became rulers of the region in 16th century.History
The region was part of Chedi Kingdom in ancient India. Chandel Rajputs ruled the region from 10th to the 16th centuries when it was taken over by Bundelas.It fell in the hands of British in 1802 which marked the beginning of British rule in the region. The territory then became part of the north-west Provinces. It had been extensively irrigated at great labour and expense.
