Bura Buri Than

Bura Buri Than, literally the place of an old man and an old woman, is in Goalpara district of Assam in India. It is located at Mothertola on the bank of the River Brahmaputra near Jaleswar. It is a religious place where there are two stones which are believed to grant happiness and prosperity to the people.

As per the local tradition, many years ago the "RAKHAL" (Cow boys) used to take "PAYAS" (rice cooked in milk and sweetened) as "PRASAD" at this place regularly, which was offered to them by an Old man and an Old Woman. The old man and the woman later turned into stones, which are there at the site.
