BURHANPUR
BURHANPUR , a town in the State of Madhya Pradesh in India, was in the Central Provinces of British India, in the thenNimar district, 280 m. NE. of Bombay. Burhanpur is now the headquarters of the Burhanpur district.
It was at one time a centre of the Mogul power in the Deccan, and a place of great extent; is now in comparative decay, but still famous, as formerly, for its muslins, silks, and brocades.
