CMOS or Complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor is one of the most popular semiconductor fabrication technology characterized by low energy consumption and high switching speeds. CMOS are semiconductors, used extensively in digital logic circuits, such as microprocessors, static RAM and microcontrollers. The reason for the name complementary stems from the fact that both n- and p-MOSFETs are needed by Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) circuits.
