Calabar

Calabar is the capital city of Cross River State, Nigeria. The former Calabar district under British protection on the coast of Upper Guinea, derived its name from this city. The region is flat and the climate not healthy. Since the 16th century, Calabar has served as an international seaport, and known chiefly for slave trade. In 1807, Great Britain abolished the slave trade.
