Calchas
Calchas, in Greek mythology, the son of Thestor, a priest of Apollo, was the most famous soothsayer and prophet who accompanied Agamemnon to the siege of Troy. He enjoined the sacrifice of Iphigenia, the eldest daughter of Agamemnon, to propitiate the gods, foretold the length or the war, and advised the construction of the wooden horses, a device by means of which Troy was surprised and taken.Nearby pages
