Canvas oil painting is a painting on canvas by using one or more oil colours.

The origin of the word expression 'oil painting' originated around 1775-85, however, one can trace back use of oil paintings by ancient Budhist painters.

The recognition under western culture has not acquired a significant push before fifteenth century. Almost everything altered there after and this kind of approach grew to be among the basis as well as foundations for almost all future art.

The greatest artists such as Picasso also employed oil paintings on canvas.
