Carlo Denina

Carlo Denina (1731-1813) was an Italian historian, born in Piedmont. He was banished from Italy for a cynical remark injurious to the monks. He paid court to Frederick the Great in Berlin, where he lived a good while, and became eventually imperial librarian in Paris under Napoleon.
