Caspar Scioppius

Caspar Scioppius (1576-1649) was a German Lutheran Protestant renegade, born in the Palatinate. He turned Catholic on a visit to Rome, and devoted his life to vilify his former co-religionists, and to invoke the Catholic powers to combine to their extermination. He was a man of learning, but of most infirm temper.
