Catskill Mountains

Catskill Mountains are a group of mountains, of steep ascent, and with rocky summits, in New York State, West of the Hudson, none of them exceeding 4000 feet. It is celebrated as the scene of Rip Van Winkle's long slumber. The Catskill Mountains belong to the Appalachians.
