Chand Bardai was a poet in the court of Prithviraj Chauhan. He wrote the epic ''Prithviraj Raso' depicting the bravery of Prithviraj Chauhan.

The epic is considered as the first epic of Hindi. This epic is also the beginning of modern Hindi language and literature.
