Chandrama

Chandrama is a god in Hindu mythology. He is the presiding deity of the moon or the moon-god. The moon is also sometimes called Chandrama. Chandrama the deity is the son of sage Atri and the father of Budh. A great dynasty of lunar race named Chandravansh descended from him.

Chandra the personified god representing the moon has twenty-seven wives the personified goddesses representing the Nakshatras (the constellations). They are daughters of Daksha. Their names are - Ashvini, Bharani, Kritika, Rohini, Mrigshira, Ardra, Punarvasu, Pushya, Ashlesha, Magha, Purvaphalguni, Uttaraphalguni, Hasta, Chitra, Svati, Vishakha, Anuradha, Jyeshtha, Mula, Purvashadha, Uttarashadha, Shravana, Dhanishtha, Shatbhisha, Purvabhadrapada, Uttarabhadrapada, and Revati.

Chandrama had once abducted Tara the wife of Brihaspati.
