Chitragupt

Chitragupt is a scribe in Hindu mythology who records virtues and vices of men. He is also the keeper of the register of the records and registrar in the abode of Yam the god of death. After the death of a person when the soul of the dead is produced before Yam to judge, the records of the virtues and the vices of the man on earth as maintained by Chitragupt is read, and the person judged accordingly for reward or punishment.
