Chitrakut
Chitrakut is a mountain in India situated in Bundelkhand parts of which lies in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. A river Payoshni flows nearby. The mountain found mention in the Ramayana where Ram and Sita spent their first days in exile. It is here Ram's brother Bharat had come to meet him with a hope to be able to convince him to return to Ayodhya. Instead, Ram convinced Bharat to return. After that Ram, Laxman, and Sita could not stay there for long, since the place started serving as reminder of the sad memories. It has now become one of the most important holy places for Hindus.
