Chitral

Chitral was a Princely State on the frontier of India, North-West of Cashmere (Kashmir), now a city in Pakistan. Since 1895 it was occupied by the British and remained under British control till India's independence in 1947, when it became part of Pakistan. It is a place of great strategical importance, and is situated on the Chitral River in northern area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
