CHRISTIAN THOMASIUS

CHRISTIAN THOMASIUS (1655-1728), a German jurist, born at Leipzig; was the first to prelect on jurisprudence in the German tongue, on which account, as on account of his advanced theological views, he encountered no small persecution; became at length professor of Jurisprudence at Halle, his influence on the study of which was considerable.
