Claudius Ptolemy was a Graeco-Egyptian astronomer. His studies of the Universe was marked as the beginning of the regular enquiry into its mysteries. This regular enquiry was first instituted in AD 140. He believed the earlier theory that the earch was the centre of the Universe and that the Sun and other heavenly bodies revolved round it.
