Commedia dell'arte

Commedia dell'arte is a kind of popular comedy based on stock characters. It was popular form of performance art in Italy during 16th to 18th century.

The subject of commedia dell'arte may be some topical issues, or much known popular plots such as love intrigues.

These are comedy of art or craft in which comic dialogues are typically used.

Commedia dell'arte is the shortened form of commedia dell’arte all’improvviso, or “comedy of the very creative ability of improvisation”. In this sense, Commedia dell'arte is an 'improvised' kind of comedy.
