Contrastive analysis is the analysis based on study of structural similarities and differences of two or more languages.

The objectives of such an analysis is to establish the inter-relationships of languages in order to create a linguistic family tree and to aid in acquiring the second language.

It helps in learing both the languages and preventing the same linguistic mistakes.
