Conversations Lexicon
Conversations Lexicon, Konversations Lexikon in German, was a popular German encyclopædia of 16 volumes, started in 1796 in Leipzig. Since 1808 it was being published by Brockhaus, and hence known as Brockhaus Enzyklopädie, until 2009. There was also another encyclopaedia named Meyers Konversations Lexikon or simply Meyers Lexikon, which was a major encyclopedia in the German language that existed in various editions, and by several titles, from 1839 to 1984, when it was merged with the Brockhaus Enzyklopädie. The last (2005–2006) full print version of the Brockhaus Enzyklopädie was the 21st edition, with approx. 24,500 pages in 30 volumes. On February 13, 2008, Brockhaus announced that due to the disappointing sales figures, it would make the content of the encyclopedia available online, supported by Internet advertising revenues and that there might be no more print editions.Nearby pages
