Count Folke Bernadotte

Count Folke Bernadotte (1895 — 1948) was a Swedish politician and statesman. During the second world war, he was the vice president of the Swedish Red Cross. While on this post, he conveyed a German offer of capitulation to the Allies in 1945. He was also appointed UN mediator in Palestine in 1948. The Stern Gang assassinated him the same year.
