DACCA
DACCA, now Dhaka, is the capital city of Bangladesh. It is situated on a branch of the Brahmaputra. It was once the capital of Bengal in undivided Begal (East Bengal and West Bengal) and a centre of Mohammedanism.The city was famous at one time for its muslins. The remains of its former grandeur are found scattered.
Dacca is also the name of a district, well watered, both for cultivation and commerce.
