Dadhivaktra

Dadhivaktra was a monkey king in Hindu mythology. According to the Ramayana, he was uncle of Sugriv and protector of Madhuvan forest. When the search team, which included Angad, Hanuman, and Jambvan among others, constituted by Sugriv to find out whereabouts of Sita was returning from Lanka after gaining information of the whereabouts of Sita, they found the Madhuvan forest in their way. They found Madhuvan full of fruits and beehives. After taking permission from the team-leader Angad, the entered into Madhuvan and had a feast of fruits and honey. In this process they caused a great damage to Madhuvan. Dadhivaktra tried to stop them but was manhandled by them. Since the team was constituted by Sugriv, he went to him to complain about the matter. Hearing this, Sugriv thought that the team must have been successful in gaining information of the whereabouts of Sita, otherwise they would not have resorted to such revelry. Forgiving their offence, Sugriv asked Dadhivaktra to immediately return to Madhuvan and send the monkeys to him without any delay. Dadhivaktra returned to Madhuvan and delivered Sugriv's message to return immediately. Having heard the message, the search team immediately returned to Sugriv.
