DARFUR

DARFUR, is a region in western Sudan,in which vegetation for the most part dormant all the year round, except from June to September, when it is rank and rich.

History

It formed a district in the Egyptian Soudan. It was then snatched from Egypt by the Mahdi, but was restored again.

Darfur was an independent sultanate for several hundred years, incorporated into Sudan by Anglo-Egyptian forces in 1916.
