Darius II

Darius II (d. 405 BC) was king (423 BC - 405 BC) of the Persians. His given name Ochus, but he had adopted a Greek name Darius. Greek sources referred him as Darius Nothus or Nothos which means "bastard". He was subject to or dependent on his eunuchs and his wife Parysatis. His reign was a succession of insurrections. He supported the Spartans against the Athenians, to the ascendency of the former in the Peloponnesus.
