DAVID GREGORY

DAVID GREGORY (1661-1708), nephew of James Gregory (1638-1675), born at Aberdeen; became professor of Mathematics in Edinburgh at the age of 23, and in 1691 was appointed Savilian professor of Astronomy at Oxford; was one of the first to publicly teach the principles of Newton's philosophy.
