Dead language

A dead language is a language which is no longer in use in general communication among people. Hoever, such a language is learned for acquiring knowledge that they contain.

For example, Sanskrit, Ancient Greek, Latin and Coptic languages are dead languages.

Dead languages have their own cultural, linguistic, or social importance. In most of the cases dead languages are predecessors of other languages. We can example of Sanskrit which is prececessor or mother of all Indo-European languages.
