Devaki

Devaki was the mother of Krishna in Hindu mythology. She is considered an incarnation of Aditi, the daughter of Daksh and the wife of Kashyap. Devaki was cousin of Kans and the wife of Vasudev. Kans had put them into jail because it was foretold that the eighth son of Devaki would kill him. Six sons of Devaki were killed by Kans one by one after their birth while she was in jail. The seventh, when he was in the womb, was transferred into the womb of Rohini, who gave birth to a son named Balram. The eighth son was Krishna.
