Dhata

Dhata is an epithet of Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh in Hindu mythology. It is also a name of a son of Brahma, who is a Rishi, and who is among the constellation of the seven stars called Saptarshi.

There was another Dhata in Hindu mythology who was as on of Rishi Kashyap by his wife Aditi. He was the first Aditya. He married Raka who bore him a son named Pratar.

The name of one of the forty-nine Vasus in Hindu mythology was also Dhata.

The sage Bhrigu had also a son by his wife Khyati whose name was Dhata. Ayati, the daughter of Meru, was married to him who bore him a son named Pran.
