Dhrishtdyumna

Dhrishtdyumna was the son of king Drupad of Panchal in the Mahabharata. He was the brother of Draupadi. Both the brother and sister were born from the fire of a sacrifice performed by Drupad. Drupad had performed this yagya for having a son who would kill Dron.

Dhrishtdyumna learnt the art of warfare and use of weapons from Dron. He was incharge of Draupadi's svayamvar. He had taken the sons of Draupadi with him to Panchal at the time of the exile of the Pandavas. In the Mahabharata war, he became the Commandr-in-Chief of the Pandava's army. He cut Dron's head with his sword in the battlefield while the later had put down his weapons to meditate over the news of killing of Ashvatthama his son. The news was false. Hearing the news of death of his father, Ashvatthama swore to avenge his father's death. In the night, Ashvatthama with two others sneaked into the Pandav camp while all were asleep and killed Dhrishtdyumna.

Dhrishtdyumna had four sons - Dhrishtketu, Kshatradharma, Kshatranjay, and Manad.
