DIU

Diu is a small island in India with a port of the same name. It is situated in the Gulf of Cambay south of the peninsula of Gujarat. It was once a flourishing place, and contained a famous Hindu temple. It was inhabited chiefly by fishermen, but now has mixed population.

Formerly, it was a Portuguese colony.

This island is now a district in the Daman and Diu, a Union Territory of India.
