Dora D'Istria

Dora D'Istria (1829-1888), real name Helena Ghika, was an eminent linguist and writer. She was born in Wallachia, and was of noble birth. She was distinguished for her beauty and accomplishments. She was also eminent as a linguist. She translated the "Iliad" into German, and wrote works, that were the fruits of travels.
