Dwaraka Tirumala

Dwaraka Tirumala is a village in West Godavari District of the State of Andhra Pradesh in India. It is located at about 40 kilometres from the town of Eluru.

It is popular for its temple dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, and hence also called Smaller Tirupati, in local language CHINA TIRUPATHI. The village is named after Dwaraka, a saint, who is said to be the one to have brought the self-manifested idol of Lord Venkateswara after doing a hard penance in an anthill.

The temple houses two main idols in the sanctum sanctorum. The Saint Dwaraka had installed the idol having only the upper part of Lord Venkateswara. However, devotees felt that one should worship the feet of the Lord, and therefore installed another full sized idol. The full statue is placed behind the self-manifested idol.
