Epistemology

Epistemology is a branch of philosophy that explores the possibility and extent of human knowledge to be acquired. Epistemological theories seek to discover the nature, origins and limits of human knowledge.

The word is derived from the Greek word episteme, meaning 'knowledge'. It concerns every scientific discipline that contributes to the collective efforts of human beings in the field of acquiting knowledge.

Epistemology aims to provide a foundation for what we consider to be true knowledge.

It helps philosophers in their attempt to differentiate truth from belief and appearances in course of their journey of seeking truth.
