Ercilla Y Zuñiga

Ercilla Y Zuñiga (1553-1595) was a Spanish poet, born at Madrid. He took part in the war of the Spaniards with the Araucos in Chile, which he celebrated in an epic of no small merit called "La Araucana". He ended his days in poverty.
