Eulenspiegel

Eulenspiegel (i. e. Owl-glass) was the hero of a popular German tale, which relates no end of pranks, fortunes, and misfortunes of a wandering mechanic born in a village in Brunswick, buried in 1350 at Mölln, in Lauenburg, where they still show his tombstone sculptured with an owl and a glass.
