Eylau

Eylau was a small town, 23 miles South of Königsberg, in East Prussia. In 1945, the town was renamed Bagrationovsk as part of Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia. It was the scene of a great battle between Napoleon and the Russian and Prussian allies in February 8, 1807. The fight was interrupted by darkness, under cover of which the allies retreated, having had the worst of it.
