FAIR MAID OF NORWAY

FAIR MAID OF NORWAY or simply MAID OF NORWAY was daughter of Eric II, king of Norway, and through her mother heiress to the Scottish crown, and granddaughter of Alexander III. of Scotland. She died on her way from Norway to Scotland in 1240 to succeed her grandfather on the throne of Scotland, an event which gave rise to the famous struggle for the crown by rival competitors.
