Flavius Arrian

Flavius Arrian (86 - c. 160 CE), full name Lucius Flavius Arrianus, was a Greek historian, philosopher, military commander, and statesman from Nicomedia, the capital of the province of Bithynia during the Roman period. He was a friend of Epictetus the Stoic, edited his "Enchiridion", wrote a "History of Alexander the Great," and "Periplus," an account of voyages round the Euxine and round the Red Sea.
