Francesque Michel
Francesque Michel (1809-1887), full name Francisque Xavier Michel, was a French antiquary, born at Lyons. He was commissioned by the French Government in 1835 to visit the libraries of England in the interest of the history and literature of France. He was a most erudite man, and edited a great many works belonging to the Middle Ages. He wrote even on the Scottish language and Scottish civilisation.Nearby pages
