Francis I

Francis I (1494 — 1547), also Francis of Orléans, was King of France. He was the son of Charles, Count of Angoulême, and Louise of Savoy. He was a prodigious patron of the arts, and promoted the emergent French Renaissance, and exploration of the new world paving the way of French empire.
