François Christophe Kellermann
François Christophe Kellermann (1735-1820), Duke of Valmy, was a French general born in Alsace, son of a peasant. He entered the army at the age of 17. He served in the Seven Years' War. He embraced the Revolution. He defeated the Duke of Brunswick at Valmy in 1792. Though, he served under Napoleon as commander of the reserves on the Rhine, but supported the Bourbons at the Restoration.Nearby pages
