Frederick Carl Elze
Frederick Carl Elze (1821-1889) was a German Shakespearian scholar, born at Dessau. He early devoted himself to the study of English literature. He lived some time in England and Scotland. In 1875, he became professor of English Literature at Halle. His various publications on Shakespeare and the Elizabethan dramatists are full of excellent criticisms.
