Fulgencio Batista

Fulgencio Batista (1901-73), full name Fulgencio Batista y Zaldívar, was a Cuban soldier and statesman. He was president of Cuba during 1940-44, and also during 1952-59. Despite US support, his second government was overthrown by Fidel Castro in 1959.
