Gentlemen-at-Arms
Gentlemen-at-Arms, next to the yeomen of the guard the oldest corps in the British army, is the bodyguard of the sovereign. The institution was formed by Henry VIII in 1509. It now consists of a captain, lieutenant, standard-bearer, adjutant, and 40 members, whose duties are limited to attendance at State ceremonies.Nearby pages
