George Eden

George Eden, Lord Auckland (1784-1849), son of William Eden, 1st Baron Auckland, and Eleanor, daughter of Sir Gilbert Elliot, 3rd Baronet. He was a Whig in politics, First Lord of the Admiralty and served as Governor-General of India between 1836 and 1842. He gave name to Auckland. He returned afterwards to his post in the Admiralty.
