GHAZIPUR
GHAZIPUR, a city of India, on the Ganges, 44 m. NE. of Benares, capital of the district of that name, formerly in the North-West Provinces during British India, and now in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The city used to be the head-quarters of the Government Opium Department, during British Raj and it traded in rose-water, sugar, tobacco, &c.The city contains the ruins of the Palace of Forty Pillars.
